Kann pkg-config nicht installieren

Question

Ich verwende den Ubuntu Server 12.04. Ich möchte Monetdb auf Virtual Box kompilieren, bekomme aber den Fehler, dass ich pkg-config nicht installiert habe. Wenn ich sudo apt-get install pkg-config ich Fehler:

Package pkg-config is not available, but is referred to by another package. This mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source 

E: Package 'pkg-config' has no installation candidate. 

ich dieses Problem nicht auf 14.04 hatte. Danke im Voraus.

ein Problem behoben:

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/* 
sudo apt-key --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys KEY 
sudo apt-get update 

Obwohl nicht sicher, warum es passiert ist.
